Household of Faith Christmas News
Dear Friends of HHOF,
Another year is gone and it’s been a year of incredible change! In January we had no one living in our house on Chestnut, so we decided to remodel it and try to sell it. We tore out the kitchen and back porch to make the kitchen larger. The kitchen received all new drywall, cabinets, lights, and flooring. That made a larger opening to the front room. We painted the whole house inside and out, and added new laminate floors and carpet. We then put it on the market (a very slow market in Spokane), and God sold it for us in a couple of months! We were so thankful. It helped us to pay for our daughter’s Tiffany’s wedding and some other outstanding bills.
We were also able to purchase a much larger, older home (duplex), which needed lots of work and hadn’t been lived in for years, but was in an ideal location for our ministry and close to our other men’s home. At the same time the house was closing God sent us Rob, who had been coming to Bible study on Monday nights. Recently released from prison and with a background in construction, he was able to move in immediately and begin work on the house. He even had his own tools! He has been a huge blessing and does incredible work.
As this letter is being written the final inspections have been done on the house. It was completed in 4 and ½ months! We need a house leader for this new house, so you’re prayers would be appreciated. The presence of God is strong there and we know He has a plan.
Our house leader on Indiana has also been a blessing. Mark has started morning discipleship Bible study with the men at the house and they have been blessed and amazed at what they are learning and God has been doing in their lives. Mark has also been responsible for starting and selling Custom Cedar sheds, a business to hopefully create jobs for the men living at HHOF. You can check them out @ customcedarbuildings.com. Mark has a calling to go to Cambodia on a long term mission. His testimony is available on our website also.
The women’s home has been a challenge, but God continues to work and has provided a relationship with ARMS, an abuse recovery program. They would like to work with us and have a similar heart as we do. What a blessing it has been to see God putting people in place who are willing to join us in the work! We are happy to share the vision God gave us so many years ago with others who can share their time and wisdom to create a much better environment.
In November HHOF celebrated 10 years of operation! Our former Pastor and wife, Jim & Kate Landis, were able to come over to Spokane and share about their similar ministry in MT. We had a great time of encouragement and fellowship with them.
2011 has been a year of incredible challenges, major changes, and watching God’s work in our lives and the lives of others. Your prayers are appreciated as we furnish the new house and find the leader God has for it.
God’s Blessings in the New Year,
Marlin & Laura Yoder
